About Tricia — Tricia Gavin

A native Iowan with diverse leadership experience.

I am an integrated marketing manager with leadership experience in the areas of strategic planning, consulting and communications. My career has given me the opportunity to work in corporate, government and start-up organizations to research, understand and communicate about large, complex issues to diverse audiences. Of relevant importance, I was the Marketing Division Manager for Allstate Insurance Corporation’s northwest region, supported business transformation at the U.S. Department of Defense and managed marketing and communications efforts for acquisition programs at the U.S. Coast Guard. I have had the opportunity to manage people, organizations, committees, and budgets. I truly enjoy using my natural ability to work with many different types of personalities and across multiple layers of approval to reach successful outcomes. Currently, I am a product marketing manager providing credit unions with the latest technology to strengthen member connections and propel growth.

In 2003, I graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN with a BA in Marketing. I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids and currently live in West Des Moines with my two (adorable) dogs Cricket and Lark. Whenever possible, I love to spend as much time as I can with friends and family. I have also enjoyed volunteering with local political campaigns to canvass and connect with organizations to help candidates. As of June 1, 2019 I am a graduate of the inaugural Emerge Iowa Training program (where I was recruited and educated about the ins and outs of running for office).
Throughout my life, I have always been a justice seeker and believe every person deserves fair representation. After having lived across the country, I can wholeheartedly say that we have something unique in Iowa. I will help ensure equal and fair legislation to advance the goodness for all versus a select few. I firmly believe it is important to have diversity represented in our legislature to drive innovation and have an equal gender voice at the table.

Integrity

Throughout my life I have had multiple leadership opportunities that taught me the importance of sound moral character. I represented my high school and college on the women’s golf team. I was class President and a student senator. All these roles taught me to represent and lead others in a positive manner. I have always fought for the underdog by encouraging them or sticking up for them when they were unable to represent themselves. During my career, I have held both government and private sector jobs that have held me to a high standard of ethics.

Accountability

Being an oldest child, I was held accountable for setting a good example for my two younger sisters. Throughout my career, I have been an employee who could be counted on to deliver successful results in a timely manner. My marketing education included instruction in leadership and taking responsibility, and I've taken those qualities to heart as I have worked for and represented government entities and businesses.

My new favorite sport: door knocking. I started knocking doors in July 2019.
